Rare Objects is based on Kathleen Tessaro's novel of the same name, which was released in 2016.
Although the book takes place just after the Great Depression, Holmes' movie is set in modern-day New York City.
The movie is centered on a young woman who attempts to rebuild her life by working in an antique store before various figures from her past begin to resurface.
In addition to directing the film, the Dawson's Creek actress co-wrote its script, served as a producer and appeared in a supporting role.
Performers such as Julia Mayorga, Derek Luke and Gina Jun rounded out the movie's cast.
